July 31, 2007 (LPAC)--At this time all of California's 55 electoral votes would go to the overall, state-wide winner of the 2008 Presidential election. Nineteen of the fifty-three districts are represented by Republicans, but Bush carried twenty-two districts in 2004.

California Bankruptcy Revealed as Economy Collapses

July 28, 2007 (LPAC) - The real problem for California is not with the 2007-08 budget -- which appears to be hopelessly stalemated -- but with the accelerating collapse of the state's economy, spearheaded by the popping of the huge real estate bubble, which had been responsible for higher-than-forecast revenues for the last four years. These revenues are drying up. It is now expected that California will have at least a $5 billion deficit for the next fiscal year.

This System is Finished: The "Great Unwind" of the Yen Carry Trade

July 29, 2007 (LPAC) -- There will be no more "free money" for wild eyed lunatics.

The "yen carry trade," a key part of the speculative bubble, is unwinding. Speculators who are running for cover from sub-prime and other wildly risky investments funded by borrowed yen, are cashing out, buying back the cheap yen which they had borrowed earlier to use for speculation around the world. This is leading to a rising yen, which further threatens the carry trade speculators, and so the "great unwind" begins.

There are no powers inherent in the office... Somehow, not only has Cheney been given vast authority by President Bush--including apparently, the entire intelligence portfolio--but he also pursues his own agenda."

Cheney Ally Crushed in Japanese Election

July 29, 2007 (LPAC)--The preliminary results from the election in Japan's upper house indicate a crushing defeat for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, leaving the upper house in the hands of the opposition Democratic Party, headed by Ichiro Ozawa. The election was a huge rejection of Abe's "Cheney-lite" posture, centered on rewriting the Constitution to allow militarization, and a hard-line approach to North Korea.

Pelosi Should Step Out of the Way!

July 29, 2007 (LPAC)--"PELOSI SHOULD STEP OUT OF THE WAY AND LET HER COLLEAGUES RESTORE THE RULE OF LAW," wrote Nation correspondent John Nichols in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer of July 27. "More than a dozen have shown their desire to do so by co-sponsoring Rep. Dennis Kucinich's articles of impeachment against Cheney."

We, the LaRouche Youth Movement, are putting the pressure on.
