Armenian-Iranian Rail Link Desired
April 17, 2007 (LPAC) -- There is a "strong desire" to build a new railway to connect Armenia and Iran. Armenian acting Transport and Communication Minister Andranik Manukian said in Tehran April 14, Iran's Mehr News reports. Manukian said the project would cost $1 billion, and they are trying to find an investor. There is an existing railroad between Iran and Armenia, but it is not in use, because it passes through Nakhichevan, which is a region disputed between Armenia and Azerbaijan Republic.
