The interview, dubbed in Arabic, was aired on May 8 from Dubai.

Secretary of State Rice's statement is in line with Vice President Dick Cheney's mission as he has begun his six-day, four-country tour through the Persian Gulf; a tour which EIR has warned is aimed at winning Arab support for a preemptive Israeli strike against Iran.

Sensing Cheney's mission, the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi published a May 8, 2007 lead editorial, "Arabs Beware, The Criminal Is Coming To You," decrying Cheney's visit, and warning of "a new vicious war prepared by the U.S. Administration, a war which could be triggered any moment." Calling Cheney "a war criminal, and enemy of Arabs and Muslims," the editorial specifically reminded the leaders of Egypt and Saudi Arabia that Cheney was the architect of the lies that led the Arab states to support two invasions of Iraq.

Issuing what portends to be an ultimatum, Rice said: "I say to the Iranians ... there are two options -- isolation and dialogue." Rice lied, not offering the third option, war.
