Fatah Rejects Hamas' Call for Dialogue; Israelis to Release Funds
June 24, 2007 (LPAC)--A senior Fatah official, Hussein al-Sheikh rebuffed an early call by Hamas leader Ismail Haniya for talks with Fatah saying: "There will be no dialogue with Hamas." Fatah also said it will seek new elections that will exclude Hamas. Hamas officials say such elections would be illegitimate. Meanwhile a summit is scheduled for Monday at Sharm el Sheik on the Red Sea in Egypt attended by Egyptian President Mubarek, Abbas, Israel's prime minister Ehud Olmert and King Abdullah of Jordan. Olmert is expected to release at least some of the hundreds of millions of dollars in Palestinian tax revenue Israel has withheld since Hamas won the election last year.
